As you know, members of the Trust and Club boards met on Friday 17th September to discuss the issue of fans’ representation on the Club board, and the wider issue of the relationships between the Club board, the Trust and the fans. That meeting did not satisfactorily resolve the issues, and had matters been left there, then the content of this update would have been very much different.
However, following a series of telephone calls after the meeting had finished, it is the opinion of the Trust board that progress has been made, and with that in mind, our discussions with the Club board will continue over the next week to 10 days.
I appreciate that this is not the answer that any of you were looking for, but I truly believe that there is an opportunity to properly fix these issues, and I would much rather get that right than provide a more meaningful update at this juncture which does more harm than good.
Each and every fan deserves to know what is going on at their football club, and you have my word (which is not given lightly) that you will be provided with the full picture once our discussions with the Club board have come to a proper resolution.
Regardless of the final outcome of those talks, the Trust will be organising an open meeting for all fans (whether or not they are members of the Trust) to fully and openly discuss the future direction of the fans’ movement within your club and agree a productive way forward.
The Trust Board will be bringing their thoughts to the table, and we hope that all supporters of the club will do the same. We are in the process of confirming a date and venue for the meeting, but I expect it to take place by no later than 3 weeks from today.
Finally, I anticipate that I will be able to let you have a comprehensive and detailed update on all ongoing matters within the next 10 to 14 days. Your patience in this matter is appreciated. We are working hard on your behalf in the meantime.
